When you use the Site Access tool in your site settings, you can add users and assign roles to them. The role you assign will determine how much access the user has to your site, including the ability to create content, edit content, and to and edit users themselves. After you have added a user, you can edit their role again at any time.

Below is a summary table and a list of the available roles and the capabilities associated with each role, ordered from least capabilities to most.

Description of Roles

Blocked

Blocked users cannot log in to the site.

Profile Only

Users with this role can create a People Profile and edit it. They don't have access to create or edit any other content.

Content Creator

Content Creators can create content, edit their own content, and edit their own profile.

Content Editor

Content Editors have all of the capabilities of Content Creators, plus the ability edit other users' content, view and edit unpublished content, and edit the main menu.

Site Manager

Faculty Sites only. Site Managers have all the capabilities of Content Editors, plus the ability to edit the footer of the site, manage and edit the homepage, add new users to the site, and edit the roles of existing users.

Site Owner

Faculty Sites only. Site Owners have all the capabilities of Site Managers, plus the ability to upgrade the site and activate new features.

Site Admin

Sites+ Sites only. Site Admins have all the capabilities of Content Editor plus permission to edit the footer and manage site access.
