Most content can be scheduled to publish or unpublish at a future date.
Scheduling overview
The following content types can be scheduled: Blog Post, Event, News, Page, People Profile, Podcast Episode, Project, and Resource. On Faculty sites, homepages and profile homepages cannot be unpublished and so cannot be scheduled.
Content editors can set publication options including scheduling when adding or editing content. These options appear at the bottom of the add/edit form.

- Checkbox to publish or unpublish
- Option to modify the creation date/time
- "Publish on" date/time
- "Unpublish on" date/time
Schedule to publish in the future
Unpublished content can be scheduled to publish in the future. When adding or editing content:
- Uncheck "Published" to set the content as unpublished
- Expand the "Scheduling options" settings
- Add a complete date and time for "Publish on". This date must be in the future.
- Save
The unpublished content will be saved and publish in the future. (See below for more detail about when your website publishes/unpublishes content.)
The creation date will automatically change to match the scheduled "Publish on" date/time when it is published. This is most pertinent to content types where the creation date is shown to site visitors like Blog, News, and Podcast Episodes. (Creation date is not automatically changed when content is published by hand.)
Schedule to unpublish in the future
Already published content can be scheduled to unpublish in the future. When adding or editing content:
- The "Published" checkbox is checked by default on new content. Ensure that it is checked.
- Expand the "Scheduling options" settings
- Add a complete date and time for "Unpublish on". This date must be in the future.
- Save
The published content will be published immediately and unpublish on that future date. (See below for more detail about exactly when your website publishes/unpublishes/content.)
Manage scheduled content
Information about scheduled content is included in the Manage Content tabs in Site Settings. Content that is scheduled to publish or unpublish will have those dates indicated under the "Published" column.
To stop content from being scheduled, edit that item, remove the date/time values in "Publish on" or "Unpublish on", and save.
When exactly your website publishes/unpublishes content
Your website is optimized for performance. A website receiving visitors will update once an hour. Each update, the website will check for scheduled content and perform the appropriate action. In most cases, scheduled content will publish/unpublish within an hour of that future date/time.
